Weirdly wonderful sea life pictured on Manacles reef off the...
A team of divers have been photographing the colourful and weirdly wonderful life beneath the sea off Cornwall.
In all, 13 experienced volunteer divers has been surveying and cataloguing life on The Manacles, a treacherous rocky reef that juts out from the Lizard peninsula.
The underwater haven is famous for its shipwrecks and is also designated as a Marine Conservation Zone. Cornwall Wildlife Trust has now carried out a Seasearch Dive expedition to survey its marine life.

Body of a man found on Towan Beach in Newquay - live updates
The body of a man has been found on Towan beach in Newquay in an incident police say they are treating as unexplained.
Emergency services were called to the scene just after 6.30 this morning after a member of the public found the body during an early morning walk.
Inspector Howard Brugge, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said the force was treating the death as unexplained at the moment.

A Russian spy plane has been photographed above the South West.
The Antonov-AN30 aircraft was pictured by a keen eyed resident in Dartmouth flying a reconnaissance mission over Britannia Royal Naval College in South Devon.
The plane caught the eye of photographer David Brown who snapped the picture above.
It was flying a mission under the Open Skies Treaty which allows Russia to make reconnaissance flights over Britain

Several stretches of the A30 have become a car park after a number of incidents around the same time.
The official traffic system operated by Inrix has issed four alerts in the past hour, two in the last few minutes.
All are causing delays with heavy traffic but only one currently has an explanation.
The worst seems to be the A30 at Summercourt where a broken down van car and caravan has partially blocked the Westbound route.

Polzeath coastguard rescue team winch teenagers to safety
Two teenagers were winched to safety after being cut off by the tide in conditions so extreme that lifeguards were unable to reach them.
Rescuers were called out just after 4pm yesterday to an area of the coast between Greenaway and Polzeath.
The winchman is lowered down the cliff.
There were reports that two teenagers had been cut off by the tide and Rock RNLI, lifeguards from Polzeath, Boscastle Coastguard Team and a rescue helicopter were summoned to the scene.

Four COWS spotted in the back of a small van on the A30
A driver has been reported to the police after a man from Cornwall spotted cows in the back of his vehicle.
A member of the public was concerned when he spotted a small Suzuki van transporting four calves.
The picture, which was taken at Alphington on Friday afternoon before the van came off the A30, was posted on Twitter by Marcus Wilks of Launceston.
The bizarre incident was reported to police, who have said they will be looking into it.

Man falls overboard from his own boat at Port Isaac
A man has been rescued from the sea after he fell overboard from his own boat today.
The incident happened at Port Isaac this morning. The village's RNLI lifeboat station was notified and the lifeboat was launched to pick him up.
It is not clear how he ended up in the water. Post Isaac lifeboat station said: "Port Isaac lifeboat called to service at 09:45hrs. A local boat owner encountered problems with his punt and ended up in the water.

The call was taken by handlers from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust after the woman asked for an ambulance.
The call to the trusts' Exeter-based control room was revealed in a tweet, which said: "We'll here is an unnecessary call………female from Penzance has called 999 asking for her lunch to be made."

Armed police officer numbers decreasing despite terror attacks
The South West has seen a drop in the number of armed police officers - while every other region has seen a rise.
An armed officer is any officer which can be operationally deployed with a firearm. They will often also carry out normal duties.
While across the UK the number of armed officers is increasing, the South West has seen a drop of 27 officers since 2016 — meaning that there are 439 trained firearm officers across the entire region, which covers five police forces.

Teen mums rates at their lowest ever in Cornwall as safe sex...
Teen pregnancy rates in Cornwall have fallen to their lowest level, with half the number of young girls having babies than five years ago.
According to the latest figures released, 161 under-18s became pregnant in 2015, the last full year for which figures are available, compared to 319 in 2010.
Dr Caroline Court, interim director of wellbeing and public health for Cornwall Council, put the decrease down to better prevention services.
