Cornwall Wildlife Trust

Comment Date: Wed 16 Apr 2014

Cornwall Wildlife Trust does not object to this application on species and habitats grounds. We feel that an application on the Rugby Club site is preferable to the application on the other Marsh Lane site which is currently being determined, since the Rugby Club site has little biodiversity value and is not designated as part of the Marsh Lane Meadows County Wildlife Site. We would welcome nesting provision for birds and bats included in the final building designs, as suggested in the Ecological Survey report. We request that swifts be added to the list of species since there are swift screaming parties recorded in the vicinity. The Bat Conservation Trust's new publication 'Designing for biodiversity: A technical guide for new and existing buildings' (RIBA Publishing 2013, 2nd edition) gives useful detail about how to design in nesting and roosting sites without the need to fix boxes externally.
