A Cornwall care home has confirmed a number of deaths following an outbreak of Covid-19. Cornwall Live was recently informed about the outbreak at Tregenna House in Camborne which was said to have resulted in a large number of staff self-isolating, and, tragically, a number of residents having passed away.

A statement from the home has now confirmed the sad news but stated that the home is now clear of the virus.

The statement sent by Andy Day, director of operations at Tregenna and Little Trefewha care homes, says: “We have had an outbreak at Tregenna House after 10 months remaining clear. The outbreak has been contained to one small unit thanks to the tremendous efforts of our staff.

“Vaccinations were made available to all residents and staff some weeks ago. Despite best efforts, some staff have tested positive and have been self-isolating with the majority now clear and back in the workplace.

“Unfortunately we have had some resident deaths through Covid but we do not publish figures out of respect for the families. We are in regular contact with Public Health England and associated health care professionals who have praised our efforts of containing the virus and to reinforce we are up to date in all our practices which we are.

“Our other care home fortunately remains free and clear from the virus.”
