Almost every part of Cornwall has seen the number of its confirmed Covid cases at least double in the past week - with just two areas now not registering any.

The overall number of cases across seven days has more than trebled, with Cornwall seeing 1,832 positive test results in the week leading up to January 1, compared to 554 cases in the week leading up to December 25.

The latest government map now shows 71 cluster areas, leaving just two not registering: St Just & Land's End, and Looe & Polperro.

This could mean they have no cases at all, or they are too few to register, with the map only showing clusters when there are at least three confirmed results. Anywhere with between zero and two cases shows white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure."

Some areas are seeing particularly high case numbers, including Newquay which has seen 140 cases recorded in seven days across its two clusters, with the neighbouring areas also seeing high figures.

Newquay West had 78 in the week up to January, at a rise of 362.5 per cent on the previous week, and a rolling rate of 999.6 cases per 100,000 people, with Newquay East 66 cases at a 312.5 per cent rise, and a rolling rate of 662.3 per 100,000.

Neighbouring St Columb Minor & Porth had 71 cases and St Columb Major & St Mawgan 50 cases.

Other clusters showing particularly high results include Probus & Roseland with 71 cases, Truro South & Central with 63 and Hayle with 56.

Grampound Road, St Newlyn East and Cubert has 36 cases (up from eight a week) and Helston 34 cases (up from nine a week ago), while Falmouth now has 87 cases between its three clusters (Falmouth West & South - 33, Falmouth East - 26, Falmouth North - 28), up from 20.

Further east, the St Austell area is seeing high numbers (St Austell North & Carclaze - 32, St Austell Central - 40, St Austell East & Carlyon Bay - 37), with Launceston at 34 cases.

Other areas see lower case figures, but many are still double what was there a week ago, with a few exceptions.

Only two have seen a fall in cases since last week: Callington & Pensilva, down from 20 cases to 15, and Gunnislake & Calstock, down from six cases to four.

Cornwall's overall rolling rate is now at 320.4 cases per 100,000 people.

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.
