The coronavirus has taken a massive step forward today and the effect on our
community is as yet unknown.   We do not need to panic however it's inevitable that it
will affect some/all of us over the coming months. This could be a single person living
alone or whole families who have to self-isolate for anything between 7 and 14 days

So what can we do;-

There are people in the village who are more than happy to collect prescriptions, get provisions etc. if needed.

190501 | Councillor Capper awarded for service to town and serving on town council for 40 years

 

"It was noted that Councillor Capper had attended the Cornwall Council Awards Ceremony at County Hall on 1 May 2019. He had been recognised for his long service to the town and in particular for serving on the town council for 40 years. He circulated the framed certificate and the tie pin, made of tin from South Crofty Mine, which he had been presented with. Members, once again, offered sincere congratulations and thanked him for his continued enthusiasm."

1827 | Whit Monday procession “to the heights of the Towans”

There is an account2 of the anniversary of the Hayle Sunday School which took place in June 1827
on Whit Monday (4th). The Hayle children were joined by the Angarrack branch of the school and 600
children went in procession with the two Wesleyan ministers at their head, “to the heights of the
Towans” and reached a natural amphitheatre “carpeted with nature's green”. “Appropriate”
hymns were sung after an address by the Rev. Thomas Martin after which they returned to the
chapel for tea and cakes. They then went to the beach, formed a circle where prayer was offered
and hymns sang and, on the way back, rested for a while at Riviere House and may well have sung

Angarrack Wesleyan Sunday School was engaging bands right up to 1954, at least. In 1886 they paid Copperhouse Band
£1. 10s. Eleven years later Copperhouse was charging £2.10s. In 1919 they engaged the prodigious
Camborne Town Band for £7.10s. But it must have been a rare luxury for next year it was back to
Copperhouse at £5. So Copperhouse had it until 1928 when St Erth made its first appearance at
the tea treat charging £5.10s. Perhaps fearing price competition they managed to reduce next
year to £4. 14s. 7d! Next year (1933) Hayle came at £5, then Camborne Junior. Marazion Band

- In 1970 there was flooding in the Commercial Road area from the Angarrack Stream

- In 1971 the War Memorial flooded, presumably from surface water runoff

- In 1974 Foundry Square, Loggan’s Cross, Marsh Lane, Penmare Hotel and Golden Sands Caravan Park flooded from the Angarrack Stream and Loggan’s Mill Leat

- In 1978 Penmare Hotel flooded, from assumed fluvial sources

- In 1979 Foundry Square and Loggan’s Cross area flooded from the Angarrack Stream and Loggan’s Mill Leat

- In 1981 Foundry Square and adjacent residential areas were flooded due to a combined fluvial and tidal event
